Mirodo SATs Companion

Since 2018, a team of teachers and headteachers, based in London, developed an online system to cover Years 3 to 6 curriculum for English, Maths and Science. We now work with over 80,000 pupils across the UK ranging from the large Multi-Academy Trusts to small rural schools.

The system was designed, based on research, to identify the key challenges leaders were facing such as intervention, reducing teacher workload, and effective data across schools.

Our vision is for every primary pupil to achieve and excel beyond the expected standard for Maths, English & Science, to ensure they are Secondary school ready. Also, to reduce teacher workload and save school’s money.

The core issues we addressed were:

  • Lack of curriculum resources based on the new question styles,
  • To reduce teacher workload through planning, marking and data,
  • Provide effective formative and summative assessment data.
Make formative and summative assessment engaging for pupils,
  • Give pupils the best start to Secondary schooling by using formative & summative assessment

Renaissance

Freckle transforms mathematics learning for Years 1-9 across UK schools by meeting each child exactly where they are. At its heart is ‘invisible differentiation’ – students work at their perfect level of challenge, but activities look identical to their peers, preserving dignity while ensuring appropriate support.

What makes Freckle special is how it automatically places students at just the right starting point using Star Maths assessments, then continuously adapts as they progress. The platform emphasises ‘Focus Skills’ – foundational concepts developed with NFER – through engaging games, interactive challenges, and built-in supports including audio explanations that make learning enjoyable.

Perfectly aligned with the National Curriculum, Freckle works seamlessly in classrooms and homes. Teachers can instantly create personalised activities while real-time insights enable targeted teaching that closes gaps before they widen.

Accessibility is central to Freckle’s design, with features supporting every learner through adjustable practice modes, audio support, and visual aids. The platform operates within a secure, GDPR-compliant environment powered by AWS’s 100% renewable energy infrastructure.

Freckle doesn’t just teach maths – it builds confident, capable young mathematicians who enjoy the journey.
